Karin MyRa Heckel has lived in Greece since August 2007. Regrettably, MyRa lost a lot of original artwork in a house fire. Her work today rises up out of the ashes, like a phoenix.
Her style is unique as it combines both Lyricisism and Realism in the subject matter. MyRa loves to capture of the human form and display it to its best effect. Karin’s LYRrealistic painting uses a multi-media approach to Art and creation as her work is a combination of painting, photography and collage.
But wait! Let MyRa explain for herself as I think she describes it better in her own words.
I was a painter from this time I could hold a pen. My drawing master was the Walter Vom Endt. He didn't want, me to learn my technik in school, instead he taught me to use free painting form and so learn of the wonder of painting.
The nickname is MyRa, because the first one I dreamed the face and the story from MyRa and I want to paint it, and I developed my LYRrealismus, because I painted all the feelings and dreams which reached me in my sense. In my technique, I mix all the materials I have, so I take photos and sketches and make new photos and so on and in the meantime I draw with all pencils and colours and airbrush.
After it is ready, maybe 6 months, you can see a story of a theme or a person in this pic and now is it your part to feel it in your own sense.
MyRa’s creative works are fanciful and yet she try to demonstrate that, women can be more than, the stereotypical ‘Sex Object’ which the media often portrays them to be. This is why upon closer inspection of the female forms depicted in her work, you will note the strength of muscular tone and in some cases an almost Amazonian appearance.
