Bryony Harrison
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
BA (Hons) in Art
Bryony was born in the UK and moved to the Isle of Man when she was fifteen years old.
Drawing and painting have always been a big part of her life and something she has always been passionate about.
After graduating from high school she attended university where she began to experiment with and develop her love of painting with acrylics. She discovered that they allowed her to work with great spontaneity and intuition on large-scale canvases due to their rapid drying time, becoming an essential part of her style.
Her usual subject matter is landscapes and seascapes, often of the Isle of Man.
“The diversity and drama of the Island’s landscapes move me on a daily basis, whether it be out hiking the coastal paths or simply walking into work on a cold morning when the sun is rising over the sea. Every day I see something else which makes me feel honoured to be here and call the Island my home.
My depictions of the Island’s landscapes are unusual due to the way they often take on a semi-abstract feel. I use bold lines and bright colours to bring joy and vibrancy to the image and do not rely on direct representation, using photographs and sketches simply as reference points rather than to capture fine detail.”
